Forex News
EUR/USD
The dollar rose slightly against the euro in early
trading in Europe Monday after a dismal survey from the respected German
research institute.
The institute said export expectations in the euro
zone's largest economy slumped in January, less than a week after its
widely-followed business confidence index for Germany fell to its lowest in two
and a half years. Also, the European
Central Bank said the rate of private sector loan growth in the euro
zone stayed at 3.3% in December, disappointing expectations for a slight rise.
GBP/USD
GBPUSD pair had a positive close on Friday having hit 3-month
highs and managing to 1.32 handle for the first time since mid-October 2018
helped by a number of positive factors. News hit the market on Friday that DUP
party has decided to support PM May and vote in favor of Plan B during
tomorrow’s parliamentary vote. This combined with broad-based dollar’s weakness
owing to increased risk appetite in the broad market and Brexit optimism helped GBP
bulls sustain positive price rally.
